Ross Hall Chemistry Lab Additions/Renovations
Location: Greeley, Colorado
Client: University of Northern Colorado

Adolfson & Peterson, a leader in construction management services for higher education facilities and university campuses, completed the University of Northern Colorado's (UNC) Ross Hall renovation and expansion project.
We utilized a phased construction process for this extensive project, which involved:
- Construction of a laboratories
- Classrooms and lecture halls
- Office space for the following departments at UNC:
- Biological Sciences
- Chemistry
- Earth Sciences
- Physics
- Mathematical Sciences
- Economics
- English
- History
- Environmental Studies
Phase 1: Expansion
- Consisted of a four-story, 101,000 sf addition with a formed, reinforced concrete structure, brick and sandstone veneer, and tile roofing.
- Also featured were a considerable amount of lab casework, equipment and furnishings along with the associated service piping, lab gases, HVAC, fume hoods and cold rooms.
- The mechanical system featured high temperature hot water heating, 875 ton absorption chiller, dual strobic exhaust fans and rooftop cooling towers.
- Electrical systems featured a high level of information technology work, with integration of IT and audio/video components into a 'smart classroom' system in classrooms and two 100-seat lecture halls.
Phase 2: Renovation
- Consisted of a gut and remodel of the existing Ross Hall, a four-story, 113,000 sf building.
- Remodel of the North Addition building, animal, fieldhouse, headhouse and greenhouse research areas.
- The project featured a two-story atrium, replacement of about 175 aluminum windows and curtainwalls.
