Stock Photography
06/11/2005I’m shocked, shocked at how many web designers use stock photography in their work. Sometimes it’s appropriate, but really, people, don’t use it as a crutch for your web design.
Here’s a very good example of what I’m talking about: www.simplicity.philips.com. While the baby is very cute, what does he or she have to do with Philips’ products? Is the baby named Philip? Is this a diaper service site? If anyone can figure out the significance of this baby, please let me know. Otherwise, the design is nice, clean, light, airy and simple.
Many of our Denver web design competitors, and I’m not naming names, fall victim to this crutch. How many web sites have you seen with happy people in suits gathered around a computer screen. Enough!
